At Honda, we believe in the power of dreams. This belief guides who we are as a company. Honda strives to be an asset to society and interact responsibly with the world we live in. We make that clear in our mission, vision, values and outlook on sustainability.

Mission

Honda strives to be a company that society wants to exist.  We endeavour to be an asset by contributing to society in a responsible way. This means being conscious of the way we interact with the world around us. Honda is aiming for a successful future, not only for us as a company, but for the world as a whole.  

We work towards these values on different levels. We respect our environment by developing fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly products, minimising the impact of our manufacturing processes, and supporting communities in need. Our philosophy is all about respecting individuals, based on initiative, equality and trust. This is how we work towards a successful future for each individual. 

We stand for corporate social responsibility, which means doing business ethically, strictly complying with human rights and labour standards, and embracing inclusion and diversity. We firmly believe in the power of dreams and give everyone the space to go for their ambitions and aspirations.

 

Values

Honda's corporate culture is centred around three core values. The first one is the Honda Philosophy. This encompasses respect for the individual and the three joys. Employees are allowed to take initiative, are treated equally, and can trust each other. Honda’s three joys are: the joy of buying, the joy of selling and the joy of creating.  

The second core value is the Company Principle: “Maintaining a global viewpoint, we are dedicated to supplying products of the highest quality yet at a reasonable price for worldwide customer satisfaction.”  

The third and final core value is Management Policies. These are based on five tenets that guide all employees in the performance of their daily responsibilities.

  1. Proceed always with ambition and youthfulness.
  2. Respect sound theory, develop fresh ideas, and make the most effective use of time.
  3. Enjoy your work, and encourage open communications.
  4. Strive constantly for a harmonious flow of work.
  5. Be ever mindful of the value of research and endeavour.  

Sustainability

Honda focuses on sustainability. We strive for a future in which we are CO2 neutral in 2050, both in terms of production and the raw materials that we use. To achieve this, we are taking steps to reduce our CO2 emissions, manage natural resources responsibly and use clean energy. We are producing green energy on our sites, developing smart charging methods, and continually innovating with electric engines in our cars, motorcycles and power products. Honda is also a pioneer in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. In 2008, the first model manufactured, the Honda FCX Clarity, was delivered in Japan.   

We want to do everything in our power to leave blue skies behind for our children. Sustainability is a focal point at Honda, and we have been working in an environmentally conscious way since the 1960s. Constantly reinventing ourselves and innovating are part of our DNA. In 1972 we developed the CVCC, an engine that polluted less, built in accordance with the US Clean Air Act standards. In 1989, we became the first automobile manufacturer working on a large scale with water-based paint. A decade later, in 1999, our first hybrid car came about and in 2002 the first fully electric vehicle was added to our range. In 2010, for the 10th time in a row, we were named America’s “greenest vehicles”. To meet our new goal of being CO2 neutral in 2050, every day we are on the lookout for ways to reduce our ecological footprint.  

But we also want to make a difference in society. We invest in social initiatives throughout Europe, focusing on community building, diversity, inclusion and safety. This is how we constantly focus on our own dreams, but also make space for the dreams of everyone around us. 

Thanks to these initiatives, the Honda Philosophy, our path to sustainability and our belief in everyone’s dreams, Honda aims to provide added value and be a company that society wants to exist.
